Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December 2024
‘Stephanos Dragoumis’ Auditorium of the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki
Leoforos Stratou 2, Thessaloniki
Once again the Mount Athos Center is organising its annual International Scientific Workshop, which is now well established as one of the leading fora for scientists and scholars engaged in research on Mount Athos. This year’s workshop will be the eighth (8th) and will be held on Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December 2024 in the ‘Stephanos Dragoumis’ Auditorium of the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki.
This annual event realises one of the main aims of the Mount Athos Center, which is to endeavour to foster a fertile dialogue that enriches and broadens the scope of research on Mount Athos.
It should be recalled, as was emphasised in the brief circulated by the First Workshop, that the aim of the international scientific workshops is to highlight the original results and syntheses of research projects that can help promote further scientific research on Mount Athos, and also to present the concerns and/or initial findings, which may not necessarily be definitive, of new ongoing research projects of an individual or collective nature.
As usual, the selection of the papers was based on the need to ensure that they covered a broad range of research topics (e.g. in the fields of history, art, theology, law, institutions, philology, archaeology, art history, architecture, the natural environment and the conservation of artworks).
The Workshop’s proceedings will be broadcast by live streaming on the following link: www.agioritikiestia.gr/el/8ergastirio.
Certificates of attendance will be issued to anyone requesting such a certificate, provided they have attended all the sessions of the Workshop.
Throughout the duration of the Workshop there will be a display of the Mount Athos Center’s publications in the foyer of the auditorium, on sale at half price.
